5th Tango Dance World Championship
Buenos Aires, Argentina

From August 16th to 26th, 2007, the Buenos Aires Ministry of Culture will be holding the 5th Tango Dance World Championship (the first one was held in 2003). The couples participating in the competition will represent their hometown or the town where they presently reside, be that in Argentina or elsewhere in the world. All contestants must be 18 years old or over. Entry is free for all contestants.

Categories

The 5th Tango Dance World Championship comprises two categories:

Salon Tango (Unrestricted entry)
It aims at a worldwide promotion of this social dance as an authentically Rio de la Plata popular practice. Evaluation criteria will comprise good taste and popular dance guidelines, i.e. an unbroken embrace, style, movement around the floor, closeness to the floor, cadence and rhythm.

Stage Tango for Couples (Unrestricted entry)
Its goal is to achieve a worldwide promotion of the new talents in the stage tango dance sphere, where popular skills are stylized for artistic display. Evaluation criteria will#include the following: choreographic composition, use of the stage area, rendition, couple's synchronicity, costumes and make-up.
