The movie Frida is a biography of Mexican artist Frida Kahlo, who suffered great pain during most of her life due to a crippling injury, and represented that reality in her paintings.
After winning a bet, Frida (Salma Hayek) dances tango with the gorgeous Tina (Ashley Judd) in a very sensual scene. The two end up having a love affair later in the story...
The tango that Salma Hayek and Ashley Judd dance in this scene is called Alcoba Azul. It is interpreted beautifully by Lila Down.
Frida Kahlo was one of the most predominant names in Mexico's artistic history. A renowned painter, she was also in an open marriage with Diego Rivera (Alfred Molina), also an artist, and had a controversial affair with the politician Leon Trostky (Geoffrey Rush) among others.
Everyone considers that Frida was a woman ahead of her time, but if we really think about it, she still is today. She lived an uncompromising bold life.
